WATLINGTON HISTORY GROUP
Watlington is not in the Doomsday book but evidence of Saxon occupation has been found. A lot of history has been lost through fire and flood.
The group was formed after a Past & Present exhibition was held. It was obvious from this that a lot of history is hidden away in attics and outhouses. We are interested in all areas of the village: Travel closing and opening of station Religion Church of England, Methodists and Brethren School Old books and registers found the names on the War Memorial are being remembered as names for the new roads. If anyone has any memories of the village, photos, personal memories, recipes, music we would love to hear from you. If anyone has any questions contact us and we will try to help.
